Birth of The Malcolm Robinson Trio
In the latter part of the twentieth century Lee, still in his mid twenties, met the gifted pianist Malcolm Robinson. It was about this time also that long-time friend, Malcolm approached Nicola. He asked if she would like to “start messing around”. Apparently, in the music business this meant “would she like to start singing again”! Malcolm had just met drummer Lee and was keen to form a trio of pianist, drummer and singer. Nicola was duly introduced to Lee.
Senior in, not only age, but experience and talent as Malcolm was, the Malcolm Robinson Trio was born.
The Malcolm Robinson Trio
They made a start at the Morley Carr Club performing once a week. This was soon added to with other regular gigs throughout the week.
The Malcolm Robinson Trio was well booked, filling two or three weekly residences and many gigs in pubs and clubs. They put together an audition CD and landed a contract to play aboard cruise ships in the Caribbean Sea, Pacific Ocean and North to Alaska.
As a part of the Malcolm Robinson Trio, Nicola and Lee performed in many pubs and clubs around the North of England. However, after the trio landed the contract with the Holland America cruise line their gigs, now in the cocktail lounges of various cruise liners, became much more exotic.
From cruising in the tropical Caribbean and Acapulco to Vancouver and North to Alaska and the Arctic Circle they really saw something of the World.
All was going well until sadly Malcolm succumbed to and died from cancer. This was not only a sad time for Lee and Nicola but traumatic too. For being under contract to the cruise line they were compelled to complete their time, but with several different, unsatisfactory pianists introduced by their agent. Things were never to be the same again and they left cruise ship entertainment when their contract expired.

It was the passionate wish of Nicola and Lee to continue performing and bringing memorable, dynamic entertainment to their enthusiastic audiences throughout Yorkshire.
Fascinating Rhythm the Duo – Nicola and Lee are available to sing for and entertain audiences young and old. Bringing together their bubbly personalities and unique singing voices they provide a fun-filled, memorable and exciting musical experience.
Always ready to dress up for the occasion Nicola and Lee always bring a touch of colour and nostalgia to their performances. They work together with entertainments managers and staff to bring just the right feel to the occasion.

About Nicola
Nicola has been a singer and entertainer since school. With early summer seasons on the Isle of Wight with a family of musicians and singers. Her career has seen her in clubs as a solo artist, as part of a trio singing on Cruise Ships and later as one half of the duo that is Fascinating Rhythm
About Lee
Lee was born into a musical family and was surrounded by showbiz throughout his early life. He began playing at about eleven years, choosing a drum kit as his favoured instrument. It was drums, always drums.
